Millbrook Resort Queenstown, New Zealand Set in a natural, alpine amphitheatre, against the backdrop of the Remarkables mountain range, the golf course at Millbrook exploits the dramatic terrain fully, delivering world-class golf. Millbrook is quite simply a fantastic golf resort. The 18 hole, par 72 championship course was designed by the legendary master golfer Sir Bob Charles. It features four different tee positions for complete enjoyment at all levels of playing expertise. Millbrook is currently undergoing a major development of the resort titled Millbrook West. This includes an additional 9 hole course that will be partially playable throughout summer '08/'09. The new course features rolling hills and deep bunkers, and promises to be a fantastic addition to our already fantastic selection of courses. The natural yet dramatic landscape creates a great stage for a memorable day of golf. Millbrook Update
An exciting new golf course development is well underway at Queenstown’s five-star Millbrook Resort. As part of the continuing development of the new ‘Coronet Nine’ and substantial improvements to the existing championship course – which will ensure delivery of a world class, championship grade 27 hole course – Millbrook has unveiled a well-planned rolling programme to introduce new holes as and when others are taken out of play. This ensures a full 18-hole course will be in play at all times, maintaining Millbrook’s position at the forefront of golf in New Zealand. As a result, golfers playing the course over summer 2008/2009 will be the first to experience four brand new holes designed by former Kiwi golf pro Greg Turner, and existing holes that have been significantly improved over the past few months. All new and improved holes have completely ‘grown in’ for the summer period, and the resort’s Director of Golf is fully confident that the new-look interim course – with a number of new and significant challenges and features -- will be extremely well received by players. “Coronet Nine holes are a substantial improvement on the existing course in terms of design, construction and topography therefore will significantly increase players’ experience,” he said. Golfers will be able to see limited signs of construction activity while playing the last four holes, but no more so than during construction of groups of homes at the resort over the past few years. As a recently constructed course, the surrounds (out of bounds areas) will not be in a finalised condition, but all new fairways and greens are in excellent condition for the summer season. Work will be carried out on the current 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th holes, adjacent to the resort’s Village Inn rooms, from December 2008 to April 2009.
