QUEENSTOWN GOLF CLUB at Kelvin Heights
Situated on the Kelvin Heights Penisula surrounded by Lake Wakatipu and with the Remarkables as a backdrop, Queenstown Golf Club is regarded as one of the world's most picturesque courses. The 6103m, 18 hole, par 72 course has a combination of challenging, scenic and unique holes laid out across the head of the Kelvin Penisula. If you decide to play at Kelvin Heights, bring a camera as there are some remarkable photo opportunities!
With character in abundance, the par 70 course requires accuracy but doesn't demand long hitting to score well. Each hole has it's own attraction and the diverse and challenging course attracts players from all over the world. Historic stone cottage ruins nestle amongst towering trees, a legacy of Arrowtown's pioneers. Undulating greens and natural rocky outcrops are common features at Arrowtown making it a great challenge for all golfers.
Set in a natural, alpine amphitheatre, against the backdrop of the Remarkables mountain range, the golf course at Millbrook exploits the dramatic terrain fully, delivering world-class golf. Millbrook is quite simply a fantastic golf resort. The 18 hole, par 72 championship course was designed by the legendary master golfer Sir Bob Charles. It features four different tee positions for complete enjoyment at all levels of playing expertise. The natural yet dramatic landscape creates a great stage for a memorable day of golf.
New Zealand's most spectacular course? The course is bounded by the Remarkables mountain range and Lake Wakatipu. It traverses through wetland to the lake edge encountering steep bluffs, indigenous vegetation and wildlife. It is designed to work with nature, not against it. Fairways are designed with minimal excavation and careful plantings to complement the natural environment, but also to give the golfer a fighting chance. Jack's has 4 tee positions to be enjoyed by golfers of all levels, and plays long off the back tees at over 7,200 yards. Fairways are generous in places but strategic narrow sections make it a placement golf course. Get too aggressive and you can be made to suffer! For those lucky enough to have played the course, you'll discover that course knowledge is vital to a good score.
Currently the home of the NZ Open, The Hills is a private course located near Arrowtown and operates as a members guest facility. The course is of world class standard and boasts some very challenging holes and stunning natural features. Enquire for more info on the Hills. We offer fantastic packages for the NZ Open week and arrange accommodation, golf on our local courses, transport, tickets to the event and non-golf activities.
A 50 minute drive from Queenstown The Wanaka Golf Course is a picturesque 18 hole golf course surrounded by mountains, overlooking the lake, nestled above the township of Wanaka. Wanaka Golf Club is home to 1000 members and hosts plenty of happy holidaying green fee players. Course maintenance is of a very high standard here and as Central Otago continues to grow as a golfing destination so too does Wanaka Golf Club. The Wanaka Golf Course was established in 1922 down in the common. It then moved up the hill in the 1930's extending to Faulks Terrace and Stone Street then in 1967 nine holes were established across the road in Wanaka Station.
The Cromwell course is a 45 minute drive from Queenstown and is a very enjoyable course to play. It is a links-style course in parts with sandy hills and marram grass prominant features. The back nine is more treelined and boasts three par fives in a row, two of which have out of bounds on the right and tight greens. Recently redesigned by former european touring pro Greg Turner, the course has some delightful holes and will challenge golfers of all levels.
